Changing the Sand
- Turn off the pump. Then, using a plug or a cloth, block the holes in the skimmer and the water return. (This will allow you to work without a water flow).
- Unscrew the tank plug in the bottom of the filter and allow the water to drain out of the filter (approximately 2 minutes).
- Remove the filter head (screw) or the plastic collar.
- It is very important to empty the sand by hand or with a "shop Vac" type vacuum cleaner.
- When the filter is empty you can remove the bottom part by unscrewing each of the filter pin.
- Then pour a little water over the filter pin and replace the new sand in the filter (never put sand in the central pipe).
- Fill the filter with sand until it is 3/4 full (depending on the model, see label on the filter).
- Replace the head, reconnect the pipes in the right locations.
- Before restarting the pump, place the filter in "backwash" position, then start the pump.
- Turn off the pump, place the filter in the "Rinse" position for 1 minute.
- Then replace it on "Filter".
Always turn off the pump before changing the position of the dial
