Changing the Sand

1. Turn off the pump. Then, using a plug or a cloth, block the holes in the skimmer and the water return. (This will allow you to work without a water flow).
2. Unscrew the tank plug in the bottom of the filter and allow the water to drain out of the filter (approximately 2 minutes).
3. Remove the filter head (screw) or the plastic collar.
4. It is very important to empty the sand by hand or with a "shop Vac" type vacuum cleaner.
5. When the filter is empty you can remove the bottom part by unscrewing each of the filter pin.
6. Then pour a little water over the filter pin and replace the new sand in the filter (never put sand in the central pipe).
7. Fill the filter with sand until it is 3/4 full (depending on the model, see label on the filter).
8. Replace the head, reconnect the pipes in the right locations.
9. Before restarting the pump, place the filter in "backwash" position, then start the pump.
10. Turn off the pump, place the filter in the "Rinse" position for 1 minute.
11. Then replace it on "Filter".
